I am unconvinced that the many brands of scientifically prepared dry dog food, or nutritionally balanced formulated dry dog food, are best when used as a sole diet in large breed adult dogs. While convenient to use and essential for controlled bone and joint development in large breed puppies, they contain a high proportion of indigestible filler or cell wall resulting in a large amount of faecal material. Supplementing with meat and meat products is better in my opinion and certainly more acceptable by the dogs.
